Rio Ferdinand Hospitalised, Misses Champions League Semi-Final Coverage

Former Manchester United defender and TNT Sports pundit Rio Ferdinand was unable to provide coverage for the Champions League semi-final last night after being hospitalised. He revealed his situation by posting a picture from his hospital bed.

The former England star, a regular analyst for TNT Sports, was scheduled to cover Arsenal`s trip to Paris for the match against PSG.

The picture showed Ferdinand lying in bed with a band around his wrist.

In a social media post, Ferdinand captioned the photo: “Gutted to be missing the Semi-Finals this week on @footballontnt!! Wishing the team all the best — I’ll be watching every minute from the iPad!”

TNT Sports responded to his post, sending their well wishes.

Sources indicate that his condition is not serious.

Ferdinand, 46, is a familiar face on TNT Sports` European football coverage, contributing as both a commentator and studio analyst. He frequently works alongside colleagues like Ally McCoist and commentator Darren Fletcher.

While he often covers his former club, Manchester United, his role extends to other major European ties.

The match Ferdinand missed saw Arsenal aiming to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit against PSG. Despite their efforts, Arsenal lost the second leg 2-1 in Paris, resulting in a 3-1 aggregate defeat, though manager Mikel Arteta claimed his side was the best in the competition.

Messages wishing him a speedy recovery flooded social media from fans and colleagues alike.
