Savinho: Manchester City’s Rising Brazilian Star
At just 19 years old, Savinho has quickly become one of Manchester City’s most exciting young talents. The Brazilian forward joined the club in 2023 for £21 million and has already made a significant impact, impressing manager Pep Guardiola with his technical skills and goal-scoring ability.
Savinho’s journey to stardom began at Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro, where he stood out from a very young age. His first coach there, Joao Paulo Alves de Paula, recalls being amazed by Savinho’s extraordinary dribbling and technical ability as a 12-year-old.
Despite his obvious talent, Savinho faced some obstacles early on. At age 14, one coach inexplicably left him on the bench and played him out of position at left-back. This decision was so controversial that the coach was fired to protect Savinho’s development.
After impressing in loans at PSV Eindhoven and Girona, Savinho joined Manchester City’s first team in 2023. He has already scored crucial goals, including one that helped save City’s Champions League campaign against Club Brugge.
Guardiola has praised Savinho’s performances, and many in Brazil view him as a future star of the national team. His former coach believes that if he stays healthy, Savinho will help lead Brazil to World Cup glory.
For his part, Savinho is focused on improving his game under Guardiola’s guidance. He’s working hard on his finishing, determined to contribute goals as well as creativity to City’s attack. With his talent and work ethic, Savinho looks set to play a major role for both Manchester City and Brazil in the coming years.
