The Last of Us Season 3: Lev and Yara Roles Cast Amidst Controversy

The third season of The Last of Us continues to expand its cast with new additions. Following the recent announcement of Patrick Wilson playing Abby’s father, the actors for two other crucial characters have now been revealed. Michelle Mao, known for her role in Bridgerton, and Kyriana Kratter from Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, are set to portray Yara and Lev, respectively, in the upcoming season.

However, the casting of Lev has ignited some discussion. In The Last of Us: Part II game, and by extension in the series, Lev is depicted as a transgender boy. The chosen actress, Kyriana Kratter, is not transgender. This decision has led to questions regarding authentic representation. In response to potential criticism, the production emphasized that they conducted “an inclusive casting call for Lev, with young actors from diverse backgrounds auditioning,” aiming to address concerns about casting choices for such a significant character.
