Tides of Tomorrow Won’t Launch on Nintendo Switch: “Graphically More Ambitious”

Digixart’s upcoming narrative adventure game, Tides of Tomorrow, is set to launch later this month, on April 22nd, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. However, many players have wondered why the project isn’t coming to Nintendo Switch (either the original model or its successor). We inquired with the developer about this omission.

In a recent interview with Game Director Adrien Poncet, where we also discussed aspects like the use of AI in development, story length, and character depth, the topic of the Switch’s absence was raised.

Poncet explained that Tides of Tomorrow is a considerably more ambitious project than their previous title, Road 96. He clarified that the technologies utilized in the new game are simply not easily supported by the technical capabilities of the Switch consoles.

He stated: “The game is graphically more ambitious than our previous game Road 96. We also use Unreal Engine 5 with Lumen and Nanite, which are not easily compatible with the Nintendo Switch. So we focused on the PS5 and Xbox Series for now.”

While this doesn’t definitively rule out a potential future Switch release for Tides of Tomorrow, fans shouldn’t hold their breath for one. The developers are currently prioritizing more powerful platforms.
