Team Liquid`s stand-in player, Tobias “Tobi” Buchner, gave an interview following his team`s victory over PARIVISION in the grand final of the FISSURE Universe: Episode 5 Dota 2 tournament. He shared his emotions about the win and discussed the team`s current shape. The interview was conducted on the official English broadcast of the championship via the Kick platform.
Q: How do you feel about the result overall? Will we see you in a top team soon?
A: 100%. I`m playing so well that everyone is just talking about me.
Q: When a team wins a tournament right before a major LAN event like the upcoming Riyadh Masters 2025, they often underperform at the LAN. How do you think Liquid will fare?
A: Team Liquid is just starting to find their form. The team wasn`t in the best condition at PGL Wallachia, but now the squad has had three full weeks of dedicated practice.
Q: In the FISSURE Universe: Episode 5 grand final, you secured a relatively quick 3:0 victory. Do you plan to celebrate this win in any way, or will you return straight to work?
A: No, now it`s straight into full preparation for Riyadh Masters 2025. For them, of course — not for me.
Q: And what will you be doing?
A: I`ll be preparing for Dota 2.
Tobi participated in FISSURE Universe: Episode 5 as a stand-in for Aiden “iNSaNiA” Sarkoi, who missed the event due to health problems. With Tobi on the roster, Team Liquid finished first in Group A and subsequently defeated PARIVISION twice – first in the upper bracket final and then again in the grand final. The scores were 2:0 and 3:0, respectively.
The online tournament, FISSURE Universe: Episode 5, took place from July 1st to 4th. Ten teams competed in the championship for a total prize pool of $250,000.
