Former boxing world champion Tony Bellew had to leave the Soccer Aid match after only five minutes due to a seemingly serious injury.
The former boxer appeared to be in significant pain, ending his appearance at Old Trafford prematurely.
Tony Bellew walked down the tunnel after lasting just five minutes.
The former boxer covered his face with his hands.
Bellew`s left leg was already heavily strapped.
He lasted just five minutes before being taken off.
Bellew, aged 42, was seen holding his face as he walked towards the tunnel, clearly disappointed by his early departure.
Medical staff attended to the injured star, who was seen wincing in pain on the sideline after being substituted.
His left leg had already been heavily bandaged before the match began.
According to ITV commentator Sam Matterface, Bellew told pitchside reporters: “I heard it go.”
Matterface then added: “That can`t be good.”
Harry Redknapp, Bellew`s manager for the Rest of the World team, had revealed concerning news before kick-off: Bellew had torn his groin during training.
He quoted Redknapp as saying: “Tony Bellew, the former world champion, just decided to kick a ball without even warming up and tore his groin.”
“He`s so tough he`ll probably play on with it,” Redknapp added.
It appears the former world cruiserweight champion may have aggravated the injury by attempting to play in the charity match.
Gorka Marquez, the Strictly Come Dancing star, replaced the injured Bellew.
Bellew was forced off immediately after Wayne Rooney opened the scoring in the fourth minute.
The ball fell kindly to the former England captain inside the box, allowing him to easily tap it into an empty net.
