In 2024, it was previously reported that former Bungie composer Martin O’Donnell was running for a congressional seat in Nevada. He was unsuccessful in that attempt, but he is seeking election again this autumn, and this time he has more significant backing.
Via X, O’Donnell announced that he is “truly honored to have the endorsement of President Donald J. Trump,” and stated that this support was instrumental in his decision to run again:
“I had promised that I would stand down if President Trump did not endorse me, so that the Republicans could avoid wasting resources on an unnecessary primary.”
The former president himself posted on Truth Social, expressing his “Great Honor to endorse America First Patriot, Marty O’Donnell, who is running to represent the incredible people of Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District.” He further elaborated on his support, saying:
“Marty O’Donnell is a world-class composer and entrepreneur who understands the ‘America First’ policies necessary to create tremendous jobs, lower taxes and regulations, promote NO TAX ON TIPS, advance MADE IN THE U.S.A., and champion our nation’s Golden Age.”
The midterm elections are scheduled for November 3rd, and it remains to be seen how O’Donnell, perhaps best known as the composer (alongside Michael Salvatori) for all of Bungie’s Halo games and Destiny, will fare. Following a significant fallout with the studio, he departed the company and has since focused on his political aspirations.
