Trump Extends Iran’s Strait of Hormuz Deadline by 10 Days

Donald Trump has extended the deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by 10 days, pushing it to April 6. He simultaneously asserted that negotiations with Tehran are ‘going very well.’ This decision temporarily halts the previously threatened attacks on Iranian energy infrastructure, which had been part of Washington’s escalating pressure campaign during the ongoing conflict.

Trump maintains that the United States holds the upper hand, suggesting the conflict is already effectively decided, while continuing to warn Tehran against pursuing nuclear ambitions. However, analysts highlight a significant divergence between the demands of both parties, making a short-term agreement improbable as tensions remain high across the region.

On Truth Social, Trump stated: “In accordance with the request of the Iranian government, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the 10-day power plant destruction period until Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.”
