Valve Developers Shifting from Dota 2 to Deadlock Project
Content creator Maxim “Gabe Follower” Poletaev has reported that Valve employees working on Dota 2 are increasingly transitioning to the Deadlock development team. This information comes from the data miner’s statement shared on a Telegram channel.
Gabe Follower stated, “Deadlock is still far from release or even public beta, with numerous major changes planned. The development is progressing at full speed, and the Deadlock team is not experiencing a shortage of personnel. In fact, more people are joining the project. To my knowledge, many individuals from the Dota 2 team are showing interest in working on Deadlock.”
Deadlock became available to the public in September 2024 and is currently in the testing phase. Valve has not yet announced an official release date for the full version. On January 17, four new heroes were added to Deadlock, expanding the game’s character roster.
As Deadlock continues to evolve, it appears to be attracting talent from within Valve, potentially impacting the development resources allocated to other projects like Dota 2. This shift in focus could have significant implications for both games and their respective communities.
