Content creator Alexander VooDooSh Shalchinov discussed the current state of the streaming industry. During a broadcast on Twitch, he noted that conditions for creators are gradually deteriorating.
[Message in chat: `I remember you doing subscription races on Twitch, breaking all the records.`] Those were the days, buddy. There was a time, man, when even playing Heroes of Might and Magic got 12k concurrent viewers, and sometimes playing with Papich we`d hit 40k – just like that. Those were the days. Now, all you can do is shrug, right?
The best times for streaming are definitely over, 100%. The coronavirus boom is gone, and now, no matter how you look at it, everywhere you turn, we`re constantly facing problems and restrictions. In everything, everywhere, on all levels: content level, tax level – everything. Wherever you just point, it`s nothing but bad news, really. I don`t even remember when there was even the slightest bit of positive news, man. Every single aspect of streaming is being choked on all levels.
Previously, Twitch users in Russia lost the ability to view streams in source quality. According to the platform`s technical support, this was done for economic reasons. However, Twitch does not plan to completely leave the region, as stated by the company`s CEO, Dan Clancy.
