Why CS2 Still Doesn’t Have Voice Lines? Imagining How This Mechanic Would Look in the Shooter

The chat wheel in Dota 2 is filled with legendary phrases from casters and professional players. Before The International, developers offer commentators and clubs the chance to release bundles that include quotes, which users keep permanently upon purchase. During a match, players can spam these lines, injecting some humor into the team dynamic and teasing opponents after successful plays. This naturally raises a logical question: why isn`t such a feature available in CS2 yet?

Currently, we are still limited to just the standard agent voice lines. Yes, some of them are funny and memorable – CS is hard to imagine without “Bingo-bango-bongo, bish-bash-bosh” and “Yo-myo, I need help!”. However, over so many years, the community has generated countless catchphrases that absolutely deserve to be added to the shooter. In this article, we decided to revisit some of the most impactful quotes from casters and professional players that would fit perfectly into a CS chat wheel.

Let`s begin our selection of quotes that should be in the game with Anders Blume`s signature phrase, which he uses during every hyped moment. The phrase “Are you kidding me?” would perfectly complement moments after a round ends – after an unexpected clutch, a knife kill, or a ninja defuse, it would land with great effect!

Counter-Strike without endless arguments with teammates isn`t Counter-Strike. There`s probably no player who hasn`t gotten into a spat with an ally at least once. In such situations, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev`s legendary meme phrase, which originated back when the sniper represented Team Liquid, would come to the rescue. Every time you are criticized for a poor flash or a terrible spray, just send “Why are you bullying me?” in the chat. We are confident it would help de-escalate the tension.

Dmitriy “CrystalMay” Korchevinin`s phrase, which sparked one of the biggest community scandals and significantly impacted the career of former NAVI member Denis “seized” Kostin, simply must be in the game. This phrase, consisting of just two words, is capable of infuriating anyone when used at the right moment (speaking from personal experience).

Another golden quote that can be spammed to provoke opponents. Losing a round when your teammates didn`t have a defuse kit is frustrating. It`s even worse if you then hear Denis “electroNic” Sharipov shouting, “Купите дефы!” (Buy defuse kits!). However, this voice line also possesses therapeutic properties. Hear the Virtus.pro captain`s shout a couple of times, and you`ll start buying a defuse kit every round to avoid being in that embarrassing situation again.

One of the most legendary rage moments, which even inspired community graffiti, was also bound to be included in our voice line selection. Can you already sense the frustration building in your opponents when you use the phrase “В чем ваша проблема” (What is your problem?) after a highlight play? It feels like this quote was simply created for CS.

Enough about teasing – let`s talk about a voice line designed to celebrate your teammates` excellent plays. Igor “SL4M” Sopov`s incredibly vivid reaction to Adil “ScreaM” Benrlitom`s (which turned out to be fake) VAC ban is perfect for this. It sounds magnificent!

A phrase that would replace your “thank you” in every match. Got a drop? Covered your back? Threw a perfect flash? Then you can`t do without these words – Jarosław “pashaBiceps” Jarząbkowski gifted us an ideal quote that describes love for teammates.

Naturally, using quotes 24/7, as happens in Dota 2, wouldn`t be possible – sound plays a critical role in CS, unlike MOBAs. Using a voice line at the wrong moment could obscure the sound of bomb defusing or enemy footsteps as they rush a site. This is why, if voice lines are introduced into CS, their usage would need to be restricted. They could be used in chat after the round ends, during freeze times, and, for instance, in the first couple of seconds after the round starts, when opponents cannot physically encounter each other. We even imagined how voice lines could look in CS. Not so bad, right? And just imagine how much Valve could earn from capsules containing hyped pro-player phrases. Developers, take note of this idea!
