CBS has officially approved the creation of another spin-off series based on the hit show “Yellowstone”.
The network has placed an order for 13 episodes, with filming slated to start this summer. The new series is described as a procedural drama and will feature Casey Dutton, the youngest son of John Dutton from the original “Yellowstone”, as its main character. Titled “Y: Marshals”, the show`s plot will follow Casey as he joins an elite division of the U.S. Marshals Service. He will leverage his skills as both a cowboy and a former Navy SEAL to deliver justice in Montana.
“Yellowstone” first premiered in 2018. The series chronicles the lives of the Dutton family, owners of a vast ranch constantly facing threats from a national park, an Indian reservation, and developers. The show has garnered positive reception, holding an average rating of 8.7 out of 10 from users on both IMDb and the Russian platform KinoPoisk.
The final installment of “Yellowstone” premiered on November 10, 2024, consisting of six episodes. Kevin Costner, who portrayed John Dutton, did not appear in these concluding episodes. Reports indicate the actor had a conflict with Paramount studio stemming from its decision to split the fifth season into two parts, which allegedly interfered with his work on his own film project, “Horizon”, where he served as the lead actor, director, screenwriter, and producer.
