Leona Maguire Pushes for Top 10 at Blue Bay LPGA in China
Leona Maguire is well-positioned to secure her first top-10 finish since last summer’s Evian Championship, following a commendable performance at the Blue Bay LPGA in China.
The County Cavan native delivered an impressive three-under-par 69, elevating her to a tie for 11th place overall at five-under. She currently trails South Korea's Mi Hyang Lee by seven shots, who maintains her lead at twelve-under after a round of 71. Lee is closely pursued by fellow Korean Hye-Jin Choi and China's Yu Liu, both sharing second place.
Elsewhere, rookie Lauren Walsh faced a challenging third round, posting an 80 that saw her slip to 12-over-par and towards the back of the field.
It was also a demanding day for Ladies European Tour rookie Aine Donegan at the Australian Women's Classic, held near Sydney. The Ennis golfer struggled with her putting, completing her round with a two-over 74. She now shares 33rd position at one-under-par at Magenta Shores Golf & Country Club.
In Australia, local player Kelsey Bennett leads the tournament with a round of 70, placing her at twelve-under overall. She holds a one-shot advantage over England's Caley McGinty, who shot a 68, and Meghan MacLaren, who carded a 70.
