With only two rounds remaining at the European Championship in Katowice, Spain’s David Anton and Azerbaijan’s Nijat Abasov are currently tied for first place with 7½ points out of 9. They are scheduled to face each other in the tenth round on Saturday.
A group of ten players, including Aydin Suleymanli, Ediz Gurel, and Haik Martirosyan, are positioned just half a point behind the leaders. Furthermore, another 24 participants remain within a single point of the current frontrunners. This close competition ensures that the race for both the championship title and the coveted World Cup qualification spots is still very much undecided.
