A 79-year-old woman in the UK has been prohibited from entering all Sainsbury’s and Argos stores nationwide. This decision has garnered significant attention, especially as the woman intends to challenge the ban, asserting that she was treated unfairly.
The woman, identified as Rita Seymour, recounted that the incident began when she attempted to purchase a scratch card. According to her account, she was falsely accused of shoplifting, which subsequently led to an argument with staff.
“I’m not the guilty one, and I wasn’t unpleasant to her. I’m nearly 80 years old, I wouldn’t try to cause trouble with anyone. I’ve worked in customer service my whole life, and I’ve never been spoken to like that.”
She acknowledged accidentally hitting an employee’s body camera during the altercation but denied any prior involvement in similar incidents.
Sainsbury’s, however, stands by its decision, stating that the ban is a result of multiple inappropriate incidents that have occurred over time. The company emphasized that the safety of its employees and customers is its utmost priority.
