Jiri Prochazka Revisits “Mercy” Remarks After Backlash

Jiri Prochazka has issued a retraction and clarification regarding his previous statements about showing “mercy” in fights. The Czech light heavyweight fighter faced criticism from various individuals, including fellow UFC fighter Carlos Ulberg, who took issue with Prochazka’s sentiments after UFC 327.

Prochazka explained that his intention was not to imply he would hold back or not finish an opponent when an opportunity arose. Instead, he stated that his “mercy” referred to a deeper respect for the sport and the martial arts code, which he believes involves not prolonging unnecessary suffering. He emphasized that he would still fight to win decisively and finish his opponents if the situation allowed.

The fighter acknowledged the negative reception his original comments received and expressed a desire to clear up any misunderstanding. He reiterated his commitment to fighting with full intensity and seeking victory, while also upholding the principles of sportsmanship and respect for his fellow competitors.
