Microsoft Announces Significant Price Increases for Xbox Series X/S

Get ready for another price hike, and this one is substantial. Microsoft has just announced that the Xbox Series X/S will become significantly more expensive starting August 1st. According to the company, this is due to a sharp increase in the cost of memory and storage components.

These new prices mean that the base model of the Xbox Series X will cost $150 more, and the Series S will be $100 more. Microsoft has not yet specified if or how these changes will affect prices in markets outside of the United States.

The prices in effect in the United States starting August 1st are as follows:

  • Xbox Series S 512GB: $399.99 -> $499.99
  • Xbox Series S 1TB: $449.99 -> $599.99
  • Xbox Series X 1TB (Digital Edition): $599.99 -> $749.99
  • Xbox Series X 1TB: $649.99 -> $799.99

Microsoft also emphasizes that gaming consoles are traditionally sold with very low profit margins and is committed to trying to mitigate the impact of these substantial price increases, particularly by offering interest-free installment payments and more alternative financing solutions.
