Nikita Zadorov recently denied speculation linking him to a trade with the Oilers. In an interview, he stated, "It’s not true. It was something from the imagination. That trade wouldn’t have made sense for anybody, especially for this team." Zadorov expressed his contentment with his current contract and playing for the team.

Fan Petition Against Formenton Signing
A significant backlash from Oilers fans has emerged following Alex Formenton's signing. A petition, initiated by a fan known as "Mama Stanley," urges the team to reverse the signing. The petition clarifies it does not question the court's verdict or declare Formenton guilty, acknowledging his 2025 acquittal on sexual assault charges. The core concern centers on Formenton's actions and the team's decision to make him a representative.
The petition states, "The Oilers have now chosen to make Formenton a representative of the team and our city. For many of us, that decision conflicts with the values we expect from an organization with enormous influence over children, families, young athletes, and the wider community." It emphasizes accountability for the organization's choice.
The petition also references the NHL's stance, noting that even after acquittals, the league stated the conduct "falls woefully short" of expected standards and warranted league discipline.
The request is for the Edmonton Oilers and OEG Inc. to "take every lawful and contractually available step to reverse this signing and end Alex Formenton’s affiliation with the team." It also calls for a public explanation of the decision and the adoption of clear, survivor-informed standards for future signings. Signatories are urged to express that this organizational choice does not align with their values.
