The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Nears $750 Million at Box Office

Several films are slated for release this year with expectations of reaching the elusive $1 billion mark. Among these anticipated blockbusters are “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” “Avengers: Doomsday,” and potentially “Toy Story 5.” However, the earliest contender to reach this milestone is “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,” which aims to replicate the success of its predecessor, a film that garnered approximately $1.36 billion worldwide.

So far, “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” is proving to be a box office triumph. After just three weekends in theaters, the film has already amassed an impressive $747 million, according to Box Office Mojo. While this figure may seem a distance from the $1 billion target, it’s important to note that animated films often exhibit remarkable staying power. Furthermore, with its release in Japan scheduled for April 24th, a significant surge in ticket sales is anticipated this week.

Should “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” cross the $1 billion threshold, it will be the first film of the year to achieve this status and the 61st film overall to reach this prestigious milestone.
