Esteban Ribovics Aims for Performance Bonus Against Edson Barboza at UFC 330
UFC lightweight contender Esteban Ribovics is targeting a significant bonus in his upcoming fight against Edson Barboza at UFC 330.
Ribovics has been recognized as a promising talent in the lightweight division, capable of challenging established names, although past setbacks have raised questions about his long-term prospects.
The UFC 330 matchup presents a crucial opportunity for Ribovics to overcome Edson Barboza, a fight many speculate could signal the end of Barboza's storied MMA career if he doesn't secure a victory.
In a recent interview, Ribovics expressed his ambition for the fight and his desire for a specific type of recognition.
“Receiving bonuses has been incredibly beneficial for me, especially achieving them consecutively,” Ribovics stated in Spanish during UFC 330 media day. “It has provided economic support and established my reputation as a fighter who brings intensity and engaging contests. This motivates me to achieve another one, but this time, I’m not aiming for ‘Fight of the Night.’ I want ‘Performance of the Night.’ I also haven't yet won a $100,000 bonus, and that's my goal.”
Reflecting on facing Barboza, Ribovics added, “Yes, I did anticipate this fight could happen. Once you're in the UFC, you expect to face such challenges. There's a saying I favor: ‘Train so hard until your idols become your rivals,’ and that's precisely what's occurring. He was, and remains, a fighter I greatly respect and admire for his career achievements, but he is also just another opponent standing in my way.”
