AI Accused of Inflating Gas Prices at California Stations

Multiple California drivers have filed lawsuits against several major gas station chains, including P, Marathon Petroleum, 7-Eleven, Walmart, Circle K, and Albertsons. These companies are accused of employing artificial intelligence tools to artificially maintain elevated gasoline prices.

The lawsuit claims that these businesses collectively utilized a system provided by Kalibrate to coordinate their pricing strategies, thereby hindering healthy competition. It is alleged that in certain areas, gasoline prices have risen by as much as 30% per liter compared to regions where this system was not in use.

The affected drivers are now seeking compensation for damages. None of the companies named in the complaint have yet responded to these allegations.
