Forza Horizon 6 Expected to Have a Stronger Launch Than All Its Predecessors
As you know, the 2005 game Forza Motorsport marked the beginning of the Forza series, and it was popular from the start, even if it wasn’t a massive franchise yet. However, when it expanded with the spin-off Forza Horizon in 2012, things truly took off. Today, it’s Horizon that defines Forza as a brand, and Forza Horizon 5 surpassed 50 million players last fall.
Despite this incredible success, the analytical firm Alinea Analytics now expects Forza Horizon 6 to have an even better launch. This time, the journey takes us to Japan, where a sample of the country has been recreated with many iconic landmarks, massive cities, villages, and temples to drive through. This is clearly appealing, as they write:
“Our estimates show that Forza Horizon 6 has already exceeded 500K copies on Steam more than a month before launch.”
Add to this 3.3 million wishlisters, and all things considered, this already makes the game “the best-selling Forza title on Steam before launch, with a full month to go.” This means that if “Playground Games nails it, we have a new benchmark for the racing game genre ahead of us,” and they don’t stop there with their projections but conclude:
“Based on comparisons with other known quantities and major sequels, such high pre-sales suggest that Horizon 6 will generate 2 million units on Steam within its first 24 hours.”
Something that will further boost the game’s numbers is that China and Japan are reportedly significantly more interested in the game than in previous installments, meaning they seem to have found a new customer base.
On May 19th, which is almost exactly one month away, Forza Horizon 6 will launch on PC and Xbox Series S/X (it will arrive on PlayStation 5 at a later date), and we will then see if Alinea Analytics’ data holds up, but there are certainly many elements pointing towards a truly strong launch.
