Convictions Secured in Failed Assassination Attempt on Former UFC Fighter Suman Mokhtarian
Earlier this week, two individuals were convicted in connection with a botched assassination attempt targeting former UFC fighter Suman Mokhtarian, which occurred in February 2024.
Tragically, Mokhtarian was fatally shot in Riverstone, New South Wales, a year later in 2025. However, no arrests have been made concerning his murder to date.
As reported by the Daily Telegraph, the Parramatta District Court found Noah Touma and Usman Chami guilty of orchestrating the unsuccessful plot to assassinate Mokhtarian. Initially, police apprehended the suspects and charged them with attempted murder; however, they were subsequently released on bail due to insufficient evidence. Despite their not-guilty pleas, a 12-member jury ultimately convicted them of conspiring to murder the former UFC competitor.
Presently, neither Touma nor Chami has been linked to the fatal 2025 shooting that claimed the fighter's life.
Suman Mokhtarian concluded his professional mixed martial arts career with a record of 8 wins and 2 losses. He departed from the UFC in 2019, following consecutive defeats and an exhibition bout during The Ultimate Fighter Season 27.
Both Suman and his brother, Ashkan Mokhtarian, also a former UFC fighter, were reportedly connected to the Alameddine crime network, a recognized organized crime group operating in Australia.
