Dana White Denies Banning Oscar De La Hoya from Ryan Garcia vs. Conor Benn Fight
Dana White, head of Zuffa Boxing, stated he did not prohibit Oscar De La Hoya from attending the Ryan Garcia versus Conor Benn boxing match held this past Saturday.
Ryan Garcia, who fights under Golden Boy Promotions led by De La Hoya, defeated Conor Benn in the main event of a Ring Magazine card promoted by Zuffa Boxing. Garcia secured a second-round knockout.
Reports circulated, citing boxing reporter Dan Rafael on X, that De La Hoya was denied credentials for the event. Responding to these claims, White told reporters he never barred De La Hoya from attending.
"I heard there’s some rumblings," White said. "Let me explain something to you: I do not like De La Hoya and De La Hoya does not like me. I would never disrespect him and say, ‘Oh, he shows up here and we treat him like shit.’ I would call him on the phone and say, ‘Hey, don’t f*cking show up to this event because we’re not going to treat you well.’ That was not the case. Why he didn’t show up, I don’t know.”
White and De La Hoya have a history of public disagreements, which have intensified since White expanded into boxing promotion. Some observers suggest De La Hoya might be pleased with Garcia's decisive win over a fighter associated with Zuffa Boxing. Garcia is now expected to pursue a potential title unification bout with Teofimo Lopez.
