With their partnership dissolved, the question arises regarding who bore more responsibility for the Avalanche's 2022 Stanley Cup victory. This debate will commence on November 5th in a game that could prove surprisingly intense. The Predators have previously bested the Avalanche on two occasions, including a decisive 7-3 victory in January. A win for the Predators in Colorado against the Avalanche would represent a significant early-season accomplishment.

While the October 25th home game against Colorado is also quite significant, not only for MacFarland but also for players like Drury and Colton reuniting with their former team and for Fedor Svechkov and Zachary L’Hereux facing their former organization. With Ryan O’Reilly being an impending free agent and Roman Josi and Steven Stamkos nearing the end of their contracts, I suspect he aims to give this core group one last opportunity.

This game is the final one before the trade deadline on March 1, 2027. The Los Angeles Kings find themselves in a similar position to the Predators: a mid-tier team attempting to maximize one last push with their core players (such as Drew Doughty).
