UFC lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan is scheduled to compete for a Real American Freestyle (RAF) title in a highly anticipated bout against Dillon Danis. This fight comes only a few weeks after Tsarukyan's co-main event appearance at UFC 331.
Tsarukyan is slated to face rising lightweight fighter Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 331 in Los Angeles next month. A win in this UFC fight is seen as a crucial step towards securing Tsarukyan's long-awaited shot at the UFC championship belt.
Speculation surrounding Tsarukyan's return to the UFC Octagon has been ongoing for months, as the promotion has reportedly delayed his opportunity for a title fight. His last UFC appearance was a submission victory over Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar last year.
During his time away from the UFC, Tsarukyan has also made a mark in the Real American Freestyle (RAF) circuit, achieving wins against notable fighters like Urijah Faber and Tony Ferguson. His previous attempt to capture an RAF crossover title against former UFC title challenger Colby Covington in July was unsuccessful.
Despite the setback in his last RAF bout, Tsarukyan will have another chance to claim an RAF championship belt soon after his UFC 331 commitment.
Arman Tsarukyan vs. Dillon Danis for RAF Middleweight Title
The promotion officially announced on Monday that Tsarukyan will challenge Dillon Danis (who holds a 3-0 MMA record) for the middleweight crossover title on October 3rd in Las Vegas.
Dillon Danis, who recently lost to former UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev on the RAF mats in June, is also scheduled to fight Mike Perry in an MMA bout later this month at the inaugural Duel Arena event. Danis's last MMA fight was a win over Warren Spencer at Misfits 22 last year.
Danis's RAF title contention comes despite a 0-2 record within the promotion. His debut fight against Covington concluded in a technical fall in March.
The complete fight card for RAF 14 is expected to be revealed and finalized in the upcoming weeks. The event will be available for live broadcast on Fox Nation.
