Moses Itauma Reflects on IBF Title Loss to Filip Hrgovic: "We Aimed for Greatness and Fell Short"

Moses Itauma is in good spirits following a concerning conclusion to his inaugural professional boxing defeat against Filip Hrgovic.

Itauma challenged Filip Hrgovic for the vacant IBF heavyweight championship. While Itauma showed promise in the initial rounds, he eventually fatigued as the fight progressed, enabling Hrgovic to achieve a dramatic comeback victory by stopping Itauma in the ninth round.

Although Hrgovic's come-from-behind win stunned the crowd at The O2 Arena, there was apprehension in the aftermath. Itauma was taken from the ring on a stretcher and admitted to the hospital, though this appears to have been a precautionary measure. The defeated heavyweight is maintaining a positive outlook.

In a video shared on the Tunnel Culture Instagram page, Itauma accepted his first loss and highlighted the valuable experience gained (via Bloody Elbow).

"Yesterday was not my night," Itauma stated. "We aimed for greatness and ultimately fell short against a more experienced opponent. I extend my congratulations to Filip Hrgovic on his victory. While I didn't achieve the desired outcome, I believe I gained experience that will be crucial for my future fights."
