Netflix Raises Subscription Prices Ahead of Historic Live MMA Event
Netflix has announced an increase in its subscription prices, a strategic move that precedes the highly anticipated live mixed martial arts (MMA) event featuring former UFC stars Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano. This adjustment signals a significant evolution in the streaming service's offerings, particularly as it expands into live sports broadcasting.
The updated pricing structure sees the standard account with advertisements rise from $7.99 to $8.99 per month. For subscribers preferring an ad-free experience, the standard plan has increased from $17.99 to $19.99 monthly. Additionally, the premium plan, which offers multiple user profiles and enhanced benefits, will now cost $26.99, up from its previous $24.99 price point.
These new rates are being implemented shortly before the May 16 event, which is being produced by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions. The fight card, headlined by the return of Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, is set to be a landmark occasion as Netflix hosts its first-ever live-streamed MMA fight. This proactive price adjustment appears to align with Netflix's ambition to offer premium live entertainment and diversify its content portfolio for its global subscriber base.
