Since Disney's acquisition, it's been hard to find a better Star Wars series than 'Andor'. It's so good, it doesn't even feel like Star Wars, but rather a tense and intelligent spy drama that shows how evil rises to power. However, it could have been a very different series if Jared Bush had been in charge.

Bush, known for co-directing and co-writing 'Zootopia', initially proposed an idea for 'Andor'. This pitch has now been made public and published online on DiscussingFilm. Here it is:

"The nascent Rebellion suffers a devastating setback when an Imperial mole infiltrated within its ranks decimates a series of rebel bases. Cassian Andor, a young intelligence agent, is one of the few survivors, but he is falsely accused of being the mole himself. Set aside, Cassian realizes the only way to clear his name and unmask the mole is to infiltrate an Imperial planet that holds the key to discovering the mole's identity."

This idea seems similar in some respects to the series we received, but distinctly different in others. It would have placed much more emphasis on Cassian's survival journey than on a broad overview of what the galaxy had become in the era of the Empire. It might not have highlighted such memorable characters as Luthen Rael, Mon Mothma, and others of their kind. Nevertheless, some fans are still interested in this alternative.

"I'm hooked on the 'Andor' we got, but a small part of me is a little curious about what this version would have looked like. Seeing Cassian completely on his own, grappling with paranoia within the early rebel cells, could have been super tense," reads one comment. "This pitch feels more like a classic spy thriller than a traditional Star Wars, and that's exactly why it could have worked very well," adds another.

What do you think of this alternative 'Andor'?
