Jamal Musiala Reveals Neurological Condition After Two On-Pitch Collapses
Jamal Musiala, the German midfielder for Bayern Munich, has confirmed he has been diagnosed with a neurological disorder that he acknowledges can be "scary" but emphasizes is easily treatable and has left him feeling very optimistic. Musiala experienced two collapses on the field within a four-day span during friendly matches. The first occurred on Saturday during a 3-1 victory against Leipzig, followed by another on Tuesday in a 4-2 friendly win over Heidenheim, where he required medical attention and assistance to leave the pitch.
The 23-year-old player took to Instagram to share his diagnosis: "I've been diagnosed with temporary, brief, but easily treatable absence seizures due to a neurological dysfunction."
"I know this can sound scary at first, but for me, it's just part of my everyday life right now. I'm receiving excellent medical care and am very optimistic. FC Bayern, my family, and my friends are always by my side and support me through this." He further stated that his health is no longer at risk and that neurologists have cleared him to resume playing.
"Overall, I'm feeling very well and am on the right track. What helps me most on this journey is to keep aiming for victories and titles with my team, along with your fantastic support."
Musiala spent a significant portion of the 2025/26 season sidelined, recovering from a serious injury sustained during the Club World Cup in July 2025. The injury involved a fibula fracture and a dislocated and fractured ankle. Despite this, he was called up to the German national team for the World Cup, where he scored a goal in a 7-1 victory against Curaçao, although Germany was eliminated before the round of 16.
