Netflix Annule le Projet d'une Adaptation Anglaise de "Squid Game"
Suite à l'immense succès mondial de la série sud-coréenne, des rumeurs ont circulé en 2024 concernant une possible adaptation en langue anglaise de "Squid Game" par Netflix, avec un début de production prévu pour 2026. Cependant, ces informations n'ont jamais été officiellement confirmées par la plateforme et semblent désormais définitivement écartées, la série n'étant plus d'actualité pour ce type de projet.
Selon des rapports de The Playlist, l'apparition de Cate Blanchett dans la scène finale de la série originale n'était pas un prélude à une version américaine, comme l'a lui-même précisé le réalisateur Dong-hyuk Hwang. Bien qu'un avenir pour d'autres épisodes de "Squid Game" soit envisageable, Netflix privilégierait désormais le développement de plusieurs spin-offs se déroulant dans différentes régions du monde. Des pistes comme la France ou la Norvège ont été évoquées, mais il s'agit pour l'instant de simples spéculations sans confirmation officielle.
Par ailleurs, David Fincher, souvent mentionné dans ce projet, continue sa collaboration étroite avec Netflix. Son prochain projet, un spin-off de *Once Upon a Time in Hollywood* centré sur le personnage de Cliff Booth (interprété par Brad Pitt), sortira d'abord en salles en novembre, avant d'être diffusé sur Netflix en décembre. Il est donc clair que le réalisateur ne travaillera pas sur "Squid Game", mais sur d'autres productions pour la plateforme.
