In a recent interview, he openly stated that he anticipates being 'crucified' by fans if his film deviates too much from the established Resident Evil universe. While the movie is an original story set within the Resident Evil world and reportedly won't feature fan-favorite characters, Cregger assures that it will still embody the core gameplay formula.
He elaborated, "I love the idea of being pitted against a world that's actively trying to annihilate you. It's just fun, and I haven't seen a film that offers that kind of experience."
Cregger also seems to possess a genuine passion for video games, often finding himself thinking, "Don't mess this up for me," when watching game adaptations. This suggests a promising dedication to delivering an epic horror film when his Resident Evil project eventually debuts.
